What is depossession acupuncture?

Despite the name, this treatment isn’t about removing literal ghosts or spirits. It’s about clearing the unresolved emotional trauma, stuck patterns, and energetic blocks that can leave us feeling weighed down or not fully ourselves. In classical Five Element Acupuncture, this foundational clearing work is known as treating “Aggressive Energy” and “Possession,” concepts that describe energetic blockages preventing the body, mind, and spirit from healing.

How does it work?

This treatment addresses two related but distinct blocks.

Aggressive Energy refers to stagnant, toxic energy built up from unresolved trauma, chronic stress, or illness. The practitioner places shallow test needles along points beside the spine. If Aggressive Energy is present, the skin around the needle reacts with a visible redness. The needles stay in place until that redness fully clears, neutralizing the block.

Possession, in this lineage, describes a deeper internal block where a person feels overtaken by negative thought patterns, phobias, addictions, or old trauma. It carries no supernatural meaning. It simply describes the feeling of being hijacked by one’s own energetic distress. This is treated using the Internal and External Dragons protocol, needling points on both the front and back of the body to release deep emotional holding and restore healthy flow.

This clearing work is typically done first, before any other acupuncture or bodywork, to prepare the system for deeper healing.

What can I expect during a treatment?

All treatments take place in our office. We recommend loose fitting clothing, ideally shorts and short sleeves, so points along the spine, arms, and legs are easy to access.

The practitioner will place a series of shallow needles and monitor your skin’s response closely. Some people notice emotional release, a sense of lightness, or subtle shifts in mood during or after the session. Because this work addresses deep emotional patterns, it is a specialized practice rooted in Worsley Five Element Acupuncture, and we approach it with care and attentiveness throughout.
